John Profenno Obituary

John Augustine Profenno passed away of natural causes in his home on June 12th 2020. He was 65 years old.

John was born on June 2nd, 1955 in Portland, ME and graduated from South Portland High School. He was the first of three children of Augustine C. Profenno jr. and Shirley M. Profenno. He is preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister, Pamela Libby and brother Ronald Profenno.

John was an avid sports fan with an almost flawless recall of any sport stat or event you could imagine. He was always happy to talk sports with anyone. He was also an avid reader and a huge music fan. Most importantly he was a kind hearted and quietly loving son, brother and uncle. He would attend sporting events and concerts for his nieces and nephews and always cheered everyone on.

He had a lot of friends around the neighborhood of South Portland, where he would go for his usual walks and where he worked at various places over time usually in a warehouse capacity. John was as loyal and loving of a son as there ever could be while taking care of his mother in the two years since his father passed in 2017 and also taking care of his mother’s every need while she fought and lost her battle with cancer only a month before his death.

He is survived by his brother in law Larry Libby, nephews Billy Libby, Anthony and Dylan Asher and nieces Erika Profenno and Jenna Green.

A memorial service for John and his mother Shirley who predeceased him just last month will be held at 11:00 am on June 27, 2020 at Grace Bible Church 74 Deering Road, Gorham, Maine.
