Patricia Nute Obituary

PATRICIA ANN ‘Trisha” NUTE Portland- Early Sunday morning on October 11, 2020, beloved wife, sister, mom, grandmother and aunt, Patricia Ann (White) Nute passed away at the age of 84 in her hometown of Portland, Maine.

Patricia, known much more commonly by loved ones as "Trisha", "Ma", "Nana" or "Aunt Trish", was born April 20, 1936 in Portland, Maine to James Henry and Marion (Neales) White. Trisha received practice taking care of others early in life by being one of 10 children, sister to Mary Rose, Elizabeth, Lorraine, Catherine, James, Paul, Leo, Joey and Joanne, the latter two both passed away in infancy. The youngest of the sisters, but older than all of her brothers, Trisha took great joy in being able to care for her younger siblings. "Family first" was a quote that she lived by throughout her life both with her many siblings and with her own family. On July 31st, 1954, she married Emery Nute Jr. and had three children of their own, Stephen, Tammy and Kimberley. Whether you were related to Trisha or a family friend, she made sure you knew you were welcome in her home by always having tea and snacks that would satisfy your sweet tooth. She loved talking and laughing with others, and her signature bright blue eyes would light up with happiness whenever her family visited. She also loved her teddy bear knick-knacks which she was never in shortage of, and proudly displayed them all throughout her kitchen. If there was an award for best mom or nana, there would be absolutely no contest. She was cherished by her family just as much as she cherished them.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Emery Nute Jr.; daughters Tammy A. Wheeler and her partner Bob Chadwick of East Baldwin, Kimberley A. Renzi and her husband Stephen of Leominster, Mass; son Stephen G. Nute and his wife Mary of Lewiston; brother, Leo White and his wife Linda of Gray; sister Elizabeth St. Laurent of Chicopee, Mass: sister-in-law, Noreen White of Buxton; brother-in-law, Raymond Nute of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; grandchildren, DJ Wheeler and his wife Ashley of West Columbia, South Carolina, Travis Wheeler, Ryan Renzi and Angela Renzi, Stephen Nute and Melissa Nute; great-grandchildren Kenzi, Kayden, Kameron and Karson Wheeler and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sisters Joanne White, Mary Rose Brackley, Catherine Fredenburg, and Lorraine King, and brothers Joey White, James White Jr., and Paul White Sr.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the nurses at the Barron Center in the Memory Care Unit for their incredible attentiveness and support over the last four years.

To respect Trisha's wishes, there will be no services, but a celebration at of life  will be held on Saturday, October 24, at 1PM at her daughter Tammy's house. Please come and enjoy celebrating Trisha's life with a cup of tea, good food and music you can dance to, all things she cherished, almost as much as her family.
