I first met Phil when I was asked to provide an estimate for doing remodeling to his house. After meeting with him I was leaving to work up a quote. I noticed Phil's clothing and bumper stickers on his car proclaiming he was a Marine. When leaving  I said "Semper Fi" to him and he quickly said,  "WAIT! WERE YOU IN THE CORPS?"  I told him I was in the Army from "62" to "68". He said, "Well, I don't have any problems with the Army"'  at which I said, "Well, Phil, I don't have any problems with the Marines". I got the job, and Phil became one of my closest friends.
Strangely, my wife, Sallie passed away on the same day this year. I am grieving for both Sallie and Phil.

Thank you you for taking me to Red Sox games and the wonderful memories at the camp on the lake. Thank you for serving.  Give gramma a hug for me now that you are together again. With love and aloha, your grandson Steve in Hawaii.

What a man! I only knew Phil for about 6 months in my tenure at Scarborough Terrace. Impressed me he did. He was an honorable man that knew how to tell a good story. He told me he tortured by his memories of WWII and service in the South Pacific, routinely saying that he did not talk about it because it was too painful. This past Veteran's Day, I went to his room to thank him for his service and to tell him that I was grateful for his personal sacrifice (and continued mental suffering).  Suddenly, stories came out. We cried together. I feel so honored that he would have shared these memories with me, further giving of himself.  Rest in Peace Faithful Servant.

Allan, Steve, Linda and all the Armstrong Family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember your Dad so well. Your Mom too. I remember the many nights all us neighborhood kids played baseball in the field behind your house. Good times and memories. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all......in love and friendship.....Vikki M. Spaltro

First met Phil when I was about 6 years old , a good hunting & fishing buddy of my father. I enjoyed growing up with his family and went to high school with Linda. I also was a member of the Davey Crockett Club years back. I talked with a friend just a few months ago about visiting Phil , but the virus fear stopped us. Phil was an amazing outdoorsman and will be missed. I hope he has plenty of hunting & fishing in his next life !
