As long time, across the street neighbors of Tommy and his family, we are very saddened by his passing. Early on we had heard Tommy referred to as "The Mayor of Hammond St", and that is how we always thought of him. He was a constant, outgoing and energetic presence on our street, always keeping an eye out and calling out a greeting or a wave or stopping his work to have a friendly chat when we passed by. We were forever amazed by his physical strength and determination as he worked daily on his property and he will remain an inspiring example for the rest of us as he stayed so active into his later years. His incredible dedication to Little League and the Boys and Girls Club is truly amazing and will be remembered for years to come. Hammond Street will not be the same without Tommy and we will all miss him greatly! Warmest Condolences to Donna and all the extended Ferrante family from neighbors, Carolyn Treat and Chip Flanagan

This is awarded annually to a volunteer Umpire of the State of Maine Little League program whose unselfish service to youth has demonstrated the qualities of counseling and understanding as exemplified by Bill Millett of Colby College. The award selection Board of Review was made up of the Athletic Director, Bowdoin College, Dean of Students,Bates College, President of University of Maine, Athletic Director, Bates College and Head Baseball Coach University of Maine, Orono.

Mr. Ferrante worked with my dad, Dino Tizzano at Crosby-Laughlin. In 1981, my dad was hospitalized unexpectedly and passed away on December 31st which was a very difficult time for us. Mr. Ferrante without anyone knowing, showed up at my mom's house on Christmas Eve dressed as Santa Claus, with gifts for my 2 1/2 and 15 month old children. I cannot begin to tell you what that meant to my family and the children.  He will always be in our heart and remembered for his kindness .
